Full Professor of Food Inspection at University of Foggia, Department of Agriculture, Food, Natural Resources and Engineering (DAFNE). Laurea cum laude in Veterinary Medicine, University of Bari (1994). Specializing in Infectious diseases, prophylaxis and police veterinary -voting 50/50 and praise (1996). President of the post graduate specialization school in “Inspection and Control of Food of animal Origin” (2008 2011). Coordinator of the degree course in Food Science and Technology – University of Foggia. Coordinator of the master’s degree “Official food control officer pursuant to Reg (EU) 625/2017 and food safety expert”. University of Foggia. Coordinator of the master’s degree “Management and quality control in the fish supply chain”. University of Foggia.
Main topics of his research activity are: Food Safety of food of animal origin and Public Health. Foodborne zoonosis. Hygiene, quality and control of fishery products. Antimicrobial resistance in the food chain.

Laurea cum laude in Organic Chemistry, University of Rome “La Sapienza” (2002), PhD in Sustainable Agro- Ecosystems, University of Foggia (2008), Master in Natural Organic Compounds, University of Rome “La Sapienza” (2008). Research fellow at the Institute of Marine Sciences, National Research Council, in Lesina (FG) from 2004 to 2007. Not permanent Research Scientist at the same Institute from 2007 to 2012. Researcher (RTDa and RTDb) at Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Science, University of Foggia, since May 2012.
Main topics of his research activity are: biomass valorisation (including blue biomass, micro and macroalgae) by means extraction, purification and characterization of fine chemicals, bioactive compounds and biomaterials with a Biorefinery approach and inspired to Green Chemistry principles. Currently, his research interests are also addressed towards platform compounds and biofuels production from biomass.
Gianfranco Eugenio Pazienza

Achieved at the University of Foggia the Ph.D. Man and Environment; research in the economic and environmental field, with particular interest in knowledge transfer and sharing with stakeholders, fishery and institutional actors involved in local development, including in the international field, in Madagascar and Tunisia. He has worked with European LEADER and Fisheries projects for the development of rural areas, strengthening his skills to the participatory approach for strategic planning. In particular with coastal action groups supporting small-scale fisheries and shellfish operators in the coastal marine district of the Gargano lagoons, designing interventions for the 2014/2020 FEAMP Operational Program.
At CNR ISMAR in Lesina, he collaborated on strategic projects SSD Pesca, and with the Department of Land and Environment on the EUSAIR strategy – ADRIPLAN Project for strategic planning of non-conflict uses of the sea in the Ionian-Adriatic macro-region; on the RITMARE Project, Italian research for the sea, AND open data sharing of research data in the field of the Blue Economy.
Ha conseguito presso l’Università di Foggia il Dottorato di ricerca Uomo e Ambiente; ricerca in campo economico e ambientale, con particolare interesse al trasferimento e condivisione delle conoscenze con i portatori di interesse, operatori del mondo della pesca e istituzionali, con gli attori coinvolti nello sviluppo locale, anche in campo internazionale, in Madagascar e in Tunisia. Ha operato con i progetti Europei LEADER e Pesca per lo sviluppo delle aree rurali, rafforzando le proprie competenze all’approccio partecipativo per la pianificazione strategica. In particolare con i gruppi di azione costiera supportando gli operatori della piccola pesca e della molluschicoltura nel distretto marino costiero delle lagune del Gargano, progettando interventi per il Programma Operativo FEAMP 2014/2020.
Al CNR ISMAR di Lesina ha collaborato ai progetti strategici SSD Pesca, e con il Dipartimento Terra e Ambiente alla strategia EUSAIR – Progetto ADRIPLAN per la pianificazione strategica degli usi non conflittuali del mare nella macroregione Ionio-Adriatica; al Progetto RITMARE, la ricerca italiana per il mare, E la condivisione open data dei dati della ricerca nel campo della Blu Economy.
